2012 Fall Week 1!
Posted by Casa Soccer League of Boston...

Casa Soccer League of Boston 2012 Fall Season kicked off with 7 exciting matches! (Few game reports are yet to be turned in)

Segunda
Three Primera matches were played on Sunday at Winsor.
The first game of the night was a tasty Extreme FC v. Arsenal Maulers matchup. Extreme looked to get on a good start after a hurtful last season, and they put pressure on Arsenal Maulers from early in the game. Arsenal Maulers looked to solidify itself at the top of the Segunda leaderboard from early on the season. Extreme FC had some great pushes up top and the new faces are beginning to gel into a decent team. Arsenal Maulers was up for the challenge though as they won those 50-50s in the middle and held the majority of possession in this one putting 6 into the back of the net. Arsenal Maulers 6-1 over Extreme FC. Bruno Cambrara grasped a man of the match honor by putting back of net of Extreme FC four times.

Penguin FC v. Oneida Reserves was a matchup of old school v. new school teams. Oneida Reserves continued it's possession throughout the most of the first half. New duds for both teams brought a very legit appearance to this game, with the play to match. The Oneida Reserves looked great, and just like its first team in Primera, they are a dangerous team to start putting points on the board early on in the season. Penguin looks to be building a team that will provide tough competition to all the teams in the Segunda. Watch out for them moving forward!

Primera
Four Primera matches were played on Sunday at Winsor.
First match was between BIFC, the defending champion, and MIT, who has been promoted to the primera after winning the regular season title in Segunda. BIFC commanded the ball possession throughout most of the match as the green trojans scored 15 goals on MIT. Runner-up for leading scorer in primera divison last season, Tedi Kujofsa, found the back of the next 6 times while Igor Dacruz and Ricky Podsiadlo both came up with a hattrick to widen the gap early in the game. MIT managed to notch in 2 towards the end of the match. Both teams will be playing one more time on OCT-07-2012.

The second matchup between NE Nor'easters FC and Minutemen FC was a great, great soccer game. No funny stuff, just good competitive soccer that we come to expect in Casa Boston. Both these teams were looking to get a win in their first game of the new season. First 20 minute was the back-and-forth fight for possession until Minutemen found the back of the net right before the half time. Shane James and Bristyln Days each notched in two goals to give Minutemen 5-0 lead with 30 minute to go. Jeff Griffin gave a late followup goal to shorten the gap, and made it 5-1. However, it was already too late in the game. The final score was 6-1 Minutemen FC. Kudos to all the guys involved with this one as it was a good quality match.

In the 5:30pm game Shamrock FC, a segunda CASA Cup winner from the last season, came and looked to a CASA heavy-weight Oneida. First 15 minute, it was a very tight game with many fouls at the start but Oneida came up with quick three goals in the first half. This allowed Oneida to relax and slowly take over the game with Matt Hardiman and Andre Rosas controlling the ball. In the second half, Antonine Moibouey put 4 goals in the back of the net in his debut for Oneida while picking up Man of the Match honor as well. The final score was 9-0 for Oneida FC. Ryan Patrie and Shamrock FC will be grinding their swords as they will be playing Oneida again in a month.

The last match of the day was a nice little run between the Primera last season's second place Retired Glory FC and AC Boston. Retired Glory hit stride in this one against AC Boston squad, as their offense overwhelmed the AC Boston defense. Five goals were notched in by three different players - Victor Anciano, Andrew Stamm, and Diego Monteverde.

The Standings have been updated. Congratulations to our Players of the Match for this week:

It is only the first week of the season. But, the tables will start to take shapes as there will be more exciting matches next week. Check out our Facebook and our Twitter sites for Weekend Previews, Game Updates, and the latest news on the League.
