Nick Davala Gorgeous day today! Thanks to everybody who came out for the Easter Day Holiday to participate in the league games, because it was just a perfect day for some soccer matches.

In the 9:00am game, AC Boston took on Boston United in a cross-town rivalry. This one went back and forth, but BU went into the half with a 2-1 lead on a PK. AC Boston took it to BU in the 2nd half, and slammed one home early on for the equalizer, and that's how this one ended up tied 2-2.

The 10:50am put Penguin FC up against MCP United. Penguin FC again came out strong and in numbers and the veteran Casa duo of Justin Putland and Louis Belott put a couple in the back of the net to propel Penguin FC to the 2-0 win. MCP United looks to get back on the top of the table next week, and continue to bring it to the pitch each week.

In the 12:40pm game, Oneida F.C. opened up their season against New England International and put together a decent showing despite a skeleton lineup. NEI brought the attack though and netted a 4-2 victory on a couple of goals by Cole Barris.

The afternoon opened up with an original 6 matchup of The Arsenal Maulers (aka Boston Burger) vs. Middlesex United. Both teams came to play, with Middlesex United, coming off a disappointing finish to the Fall 2010 season, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. The Maulers came back though and ended up taking this one 5-4, for another sick 2nd half comeback. As an note of interest, this game was a landmark event for Middlesex United's Patrie brothers, as all four (Ryan, Kyle, Justin and Tim) hit the back of the net in a single game according to their date of birth... a definite first for Casa Boston and likely a precedent for the nation (can we get a stat check please?). Congrats to you guys on a pretty awesome Easter Holiday!

The last game of the day saw the premiere of a Free Agent team NE Nor'Easters take on veterans MIT. This one was close going into the second half, but MIT outlasted the injury depelcted Nor'Easters to take control in the 2nd half, cruising to a 5-2 victory.

The standings have been updated. Congratulations to our Players of the Match for Week 3:

  • Nick Barbati (Boston United)
  • Josh Pfahl (MCP United)
  • Cole Barris (New England International)
  • Kenny Matreyek (The Arsenal Maulers)
  • Marcos Figueiredo (MIT)

So that is the last of the Sunday games (barring make-ups) and we head into all Saturdays from here on out. Let's keep this season going strong and we appreciate all you for making the trip out to Winsor on what turned out to be a fantastic day on the pitch. Check out our Facebook page for more game day photos. Catch up again next week!

Nick Davala Cold one this weekend, but the games were nonetheless played well. Thanks to all the FANS that came out to support our players in some fantastic Spring playing conditions!

Week 2a saw three games logged including one of the two rainouts from last week.. In the Saturday 1pm game at Clarke, HarborView Hustlers took on MCP UNITED. HarborView came out gunning, and had some nice breaks down the wings. MCP UNITED played equally well, moving the ball nicely in the forward field. Both teams put shots on net, but MCP UNITED got a couple more to hit the back of the net with a 3-1 victory.

The cold 4:30pm game at Clarke put The Arsenal Maulers against Boston United. Early on, this one looked bad for the Maulers going down 4-1 at the half. After a solid halftime regroup, the Maulers then went on a scoring spree, led by Rory O'Connor with three that hit the back of the net. In the end, the game was tied 5-5 and both teams sought shelter eeking a point out for the table.

Sunday's 12pm game at Center Track was played with an awesome Sunday morning smell of BBQ in the air. MIT and AC Boston faced of in one of the two rescheduled games from last week, and came to play for some points. This one got physical, as both teams looked to open up their season with victories. MIT keep pushing the ball towards goal and Kenan Warner steamrolled one in past goal to close out the fist half 1-1. The second half saw the MIT attack met by a sturdy AC Boston defensive front. AC Boston capitalized three times in transition, including a nasty hit from the left side by Rama Myers. In the end, AC Boston took it 3-1 to get on the board. The standings have been updated. Congratulations to our Players of the Match for Week 2a:

  • Ilya Karpusyuk (MCP UNITED)
  • Robert Denious (The Arsenal Maulers)
  • Jared Fine (AC Boston)

Nick Davala Not a bad way to open up the Spring 2011 Season! Well played all the way around - thanks to everybody for making this past Saturday a fantastic launch success! Make sure the sign up for our Twitter feed for Game Previews & Live Action as well as our Facebook page for you to check out the League.

Week 1 saw 10 teams squaring of at the awesome Winsor School in Downtown Boston. Defending Champions New England International took on the upstart MCP UNITED team in the 9:00am game. Back and forth for most of the game, NEI got on the board first and eventually pulled out a close 3-2 victory. MCP UNITED looks great, so watch out for them moving forward.

The 10:50am game pitted another new team in Boston United (BU) against a re-tooled HarborView Hustlers. BU dominated the midfield and moved the ball very well, taking a 4-2 victory on three goals by Ryan Newton.

Minutemen FC v. The Arsenal Maulers in the 12:40pm was a no contest. 10-0 for Minutemen FC on a crazy attack by veterans Bradford Smith and Shane James. Lot's of new faces for The Arsenal Maulers who look to rebound in Week 2.

Both Free Agent teams NE Nor'Easters FC and Oneida F.C. hit the pitch for the 2:30pm game, looking to finalize their rosters. After a 2-hour negotiation session at Penguin Pizza following this game, the rosters look great and these teams look to provide some serious competition!

The final game of the day saw the Fall 2010 Fall Regular Season Champs Penguin F.C. take on Midnight Riders. Penguin F.C. looked in mid-season form, driving to the 2-1 win in a tight game that saw both teams bring A games to the pitch.

The standings have been updated.

Congratulations to our Players of the Match for Week 1:

  • Peter O'Karma (New England International)
  • Ryan Newton (Boston United BU)
  • Shane James (Minutemen FC)
  • Tom Allen (Penguin FC)

As a reminder, the schedule for the remainder of April is a little patchy. Sounds like there are some scrimmages in the works for those teams that have off weeks, so contact your Captain to get one going for you're respective teams. Otherwise, play resumes next week at Clarke field. We are also interested in speaking with a representative of the FC BOSTON STARS - please drop me a line as we do not have any of your contact info on record.

Again, awesome start to the season. I'm really excited about this year - looks to be a good one!!
