The Spring Season Has Arrived
Posted by Tom Adams...

Tom Adams We finally have some exciting news to share: we?ll be partnering with the Greater Boston Soccer League for the spring season. The GBSL runs co-ed play in the spring, and so we will be forming a new Casa division within the GBSL. The Casa division will be the 'gender neutral' Casa-style play. Like last season, this means: you can have a men?s only team in the Casa division, but you can also have women if you want, but there is no female requirement. (Most Casa teams last season had 1-2 women).

If you are interested in playing in the Casa division, you?ll continue to use your team page on the Casa website (bostonsoccer.org) to manage your team. Your data is still around from last year, and we?ll still be keeping your career stats on the website.

Also, there may also be matches between the Casa division teams and the GBSL division teams. Such matches will used some revised rules since GBSL teams will likely have more women, but GBSL teams participating in this will be selected from the stronger pool.

The field locations are not yet determined, as the GBSL is still working with places in the area to obtain enough fields for everyone. Most of their games are played near LCA. It is likely that most of our games will be on Sundays instead of Saturdays. We will know more as field requests are confirmed.

The team costs will be about the same as last season. However, because field rental is three to four times higher than what we paid at LCA, we have to make a few changes to keep costs reasonable. This may mean some games played with only one referee, or games with 40 minute halves instead of 45. However, we are doing what we can but can?t know for sure until the fields are finally secured.

Teams who still have their deposit with Casa can have it forwarded to the spring season which will reduce your apparent costs.

Please stay tuned with our website for details as they develop. I?ll do my best to answer your questions and post updates. In the mean time, get your teams ready!

The anticipated start date is April 17 or 18.

Thanks, Tom Adams Casa Soccer League President
