Playoffs Week One Results
Posted by Nick Davala...

Nick Davala The Playoffs are ON!! Casa Boston opened up the Fall 2010 playoff schedule with some great games and fierce competition. It's really getting good out there, and if you're a Casa fan, these are the best games to come out and watch!

In the League Championship Bracket quarterfinal, #3 AC Boston squared off against #6 MIT - a rematch from opening day at Magazine Beach that saw the teams tie 1-1. In a back and forth go-around, AC Boston opened up the scoring gates late in the second half to put this one away in a 4-0 result. AC Boston now sets their sights on #2 Minutemen FC. These teams hooked up in Week Two and played to a 4-4 draw. There are no tie games this time around and one of these teams will have to play for the Championship...

The other quarterfinal pitted #5 New England International against #4 Arsenal Maulers in a rematch from Week Six. At the end of regular time, the game was square at 2-2 and the penalty kick shootout was just as evenly matched. Neither team was able to capitalize initially, but New England International pulled it off in extras with a well-deserved PK shootout victory. This sets up a war with #1 Penguin FC in a very anticipated rematch from the final week of the regular season.

In the Toilet Bowl semifinals, Midnight Riders took on HarborView Hustlers and took home a 4-1 victory. This sets up a battle for the Bronzed Plunger in two weeks with Middlesex United - a rematch of the Spring 2010 League Championship that saw Middlesex United power to a 3-1 victory.

Congratulations to our Players of the Match:

  • Rama Meyers (AC Boston)
  • Michael Glover (Midnight Riders)
  • Diego Podesta (New England International)

The playoffs pairings are set for next week:

10:00:00 LCA Top: #1 Penguin FC vs. #5 New England International (League Playoff Semifinal)
12:00:00 LCA Top: #2 Minutemen FC vs. #3 AC Boston (League Playoff Semifinal)

Great day today! Good Luck next week!

New England International took on Penguin FC and took home a gutsy 3-1 win in a very well played and competitive match-up. Midnight Riders and MIT both took home 3-0 wins over Middlesex United and Arlington Athletic.

Week 6 Results
Posted by Nick Davala...

Nick Davala Week 6 games were awesome. Heading into Fall play, the weather continues to be great and Casa Boston lucked out again with a gorgeous day to play soccer! It was noted by multiple parties that the overall competition level of the League has increased dramatically over last Fall. As an observer, I would have to agree.

In the 10am matchups, Penguin FC locked down a first round playoff bye with a victory over Arlington Athletic 4-0. AC Boston won for the fourth week in a row, toppling Middlesex United 5-2. This win puts them into a tie for 2nd place with Minutemen FC, who took home an 8-1 win over Midnight Riders. The other 12pm match put MIT up against HarborView Hustlers, with MIT taking home a well played 4-0 win. The 2pm feature match saw a dominant Arsenal Maulers team score 3 times, shutting out the prolific New England International attack. At the end of Week 6, both these teams are tied for 5th place with 10 points.

The standings have been updated and the Top 6 teams have already secured enough points for a place in the League Playoffs. Week 7 is all about positioning.

Congratulations to our Players of the Match for Week 6:

  • Brian Hayes (Penguin FC)
  • Choya Amenkhienan (MIT)
  • Greg Molind (The Arsenal Maulers)
  • Phil Julien (Minutemen FC)
  • Rama Myers (AC Boston)

As a reminder, there will not be any games on this upcoming weekend, October 16th. We will resume the season on October 23rd, Week 7. Have another great week off!
